Powernet help Group Leisure work, rest and play |
19 Oct 2004 |
In the 13 months since Yandell Media Group launched the www.groupleisure.com site designed and built for them by Powernet, it has already become the leading group travel web site in its sector in the UK and is getting an average of over 23,000 'hits' a day at the time of writing. Group Leisure, as well as running the web site and its counterpart magazine and related publications, also organises the annual International Group Leisure and Travel Show, the UK's largest exhibition for the group travel and tours market. Held this year at Wembley Exhibition Centre in London, the show saw Group Leisure launch its brand new exhibition stand, which featured a number of internet 'pods' where visitors could log onto www.groupleisure.com and explore the website. Members of the Group Leisure team, who are able to add, edit and publish content across the site in real-time, were on-hand to guide exhibition visitors through the wealth of content and features that the site contains, and produced a special take-away guide to the site for visitors to use. During the course of the exhibition, they also signed up many new online subscribers: total numbers of registered users of the web site increased by 6% during the two days of the show. And the show – and the web site – are both hits with Group Leisure, as well as their target audience. Rob Yandell, Group Leisure Publishing Director said: "A year on and www.groupleisure.com continues to lead the way in providing group travel information to thousands of monthly visitors. We're so proud of our web site that we used this year's International Group Leisure & Travel Show to show it off. With eight screens online we were able to not only show visitors how the web site works, but most decided to become a free registered user there and then." Group Leisure editor, Tracy Archbold, added: "It was great to see so many group organisers and travel trade representatives on our stand and everyone enjoyed finding out more about our web site or giving feedback on their online experience with us." The coming year will see Powernet and Group Leisure continuing their working partnership to bring further features to the site, ensuring it maintains its leading position and builds an ever bigger regular readership.
